With the municipalities of Aschau in Chiemgau and Frasdorf, the upper Priental almost covers the area of the former rule of Hohenaschau. The mountains Geigelstein, Kampenwand and Spitzstein are
significant features of the western Chiemgau Alps with their extensive alpine pastures and the deeply cut valley of the Prien river.
